The ENhANCE consortium would like to mark World Health Day 2020

We thank and honour all nurses at the forefront of the COVID-19 crisis

The Erasmus+ ENhANCE project (European Curriculum for Family and Community Nurse) supports and contributes to the five key investment areas in nursing as mentioned by the World Health Organisation here.

Accelerate investments in nursing and midwifery education:

The ENhANCE Family and Community Nurse (FCN) European Curriculum can accelerate investments in nurse education, by serving as a reference curriculum for VET designers in any EU country who wish to target the FCN profile. It is modular and flexible enabling VET designers to develop FCN curricula at the local or regional levels appropriate to different contexts and rules.

Employ more specialist nurses:

The ENhANCE project is targeted to increase the specialisation level of graduate nurses in the field of family and community care. Currently, there exists no European curriculum that details the knowledge, skills and competencies for Family and Community Nurse.

Invest in the leadership skills of nurses and midwives:

Developing nurse leadership and decision-making skills is a critical learning outcome of the ENhANCE FCN curriculum, which will serve to improve health care effectiveness and appropriateness.

Make midwives and nurses the heart of primary health care:

The FCN is a key member of the primary care team and ENhANCE targets the skills gap in primary and community care. The ENhANCE FCN Professional Profile was developed on the basis of existing WHO frameworks and EU policy recommendations.

Support nurses and midwives in delivering health promotion and disease prevention:

One of the key activities of the FCN are to identify and assess the health status and needs of individuals and families, empowering them to engage actively in enhancing, promoting and managing their health thus preventing disease and injuries.
