Between 14th and 18th of October 2025, two Portuguese seniors represented Portugal at the international training session for the European project SEAniors’ Alliance: Generations united for ecological and digital change, which took place in Kyparissia, Greece. This mobility, organised under the Erasmus+ programme, was part of a series of actions dedicated to promoting active ageing, sustainability and digital inclusion between generations.
For five days, participants had access to a diverse programme of learning and practical experiences. The first day included a visit to the main sea turtle nesting sites, where conservation measures and the effects of climate change on the species were presented.
Over the following days, the group took part in environmental and cultural education activities, such as a visit to the historic site of Olympia — the birthplace of the Olympic Games — a walk in the Foloi oak forest to study the impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems, and visits to local olive oil mills and farms, where sustainable agricultural practices were discussed.
The programme also included biodiversity observation at Gialova Lagoon and Voidokilia Beach, one of the most iconic in the region, and ended with a meeting to share and plan future actions by the participants as ‘SEAniors Ambassadors’ -seniors trained to promote sustainable habits and inspire their local communities.

The SEAniors’ Alliance is developed by Future Balloons (Portugal), in partnership with MEDASSET and Startagers (Greece) and EduVita (Italy). The project aims to strengthen the digital and environmental skills of citizens over 65, encouraging lifelong learning, intergenerational dialogue and social innovation across Europe.
Future Balloons is proud to contribute to this European initiative that brings together generations, countries and knowledge, reaffirming the company’s commitment to social innovation, education and environmental sustainability.
